We hope that our residents will feel completely at home. Residents should bring with them not only night wear clothes but clothes for wearing indoors or on outings e.g. shopping, bus trips. Where at all possible, we ask that the clothes be clearly named before admission, Cornfield Care Centre will supply name tags for this purpose. We strongly recommend residents who are planning to stay for longer periods of time to personalise their rooms. Any favourite pieces of furniture, television, ornaments, photographs etc. would be ideal for this and we will certainly arrange to have pictures, plates etc. put up on the wall if required. The only requirement is that all furniture is fire retardant and electrical items will have to be PAT tested for safety before being put into resident’s room.
We encourage residents to send money and valuables home where possible. Small amounts of money may be kept but if you are at all worried, please ask the Administration Manager to keep it for you in the office. We cannot accept responsibility for money or valuables left in the bedrooms
If an admission to hospital is necessary and the resident and family agree that this is the most appropriate action then the resident will be transferred to hospital via ambulance. If the resident requires to be assessed in accident and emergency a member of staff will accompany the resident and wait until they are either admitted to the hospital or return to Cornfield. If the resident is being admitted straight to a ward there is no need for a member of staff to accompany them however should family wish to accompany the resident they may come to Cornfield and travel with their relatives.
There is a wide variety of services available including: Permanent and Respite care; Physiotherapist; Chiropodist; Optician; Dentist; Doctor; Activity Therapist; Hairdresser; Worship; Bus; Birthday Parties; Relatives Forum; Library; Telephone; Television and Designated Smoking.
Each situation will be looked at sympathetically. It may not always be possible to have all pets catered for but we will assess each situation on its own merits.
If you have your own television please feel free to bring this with you or if you wish the home to organise one, let the Home Manager know.
Residents who have a phone in their room will only be charged for calls where the usage is extensive.
